Your Instructor: Does Not Expect Tips. However: Once Your Course Has Fully Finished & De-Briefs Have Been Completed, Certificates Given Out, Or Action Plans Discussed. Feel Free To Show Your Gratitude.
Dinning Out / Bars & Coffee Shops: In Croatia We Generally Do Leave Tips When Dinning Out Or Paying A Drinks Bill At The End Of A Night. Especially If You Have Had Good Service & Enjoyed Your Meal / Drinks. (Standard Gratuities: In Croatia Are Around 10-15% Of The Bill) * In our experience this amount will more than cover your training onboard expeneses for Breakfasts & Lunches and marina fees. If you request expensive marina's each night you may need too top it up. Marina's in Croatia can cost upto €160 per night but come with water, electric and bathroom facilities. Anchoring and Restaurant Moorings are generally free. *Float management is a crew task and part of understanding boat organisation. YST does not take any funds from your float contribution. Your instructor will open it up with you all at the beginning of your course. Any remaming funds are shared equally between yourselves at the end of the course. |

Students often stay local and take advantage of the discounted Powerboat Level 2 course running on Saturday & Sundays or go off and explore Croatia, Split, Hvar or Brač for the 2 days between).
Note: RYA Day Skipper Theory to be completed before taking RYA Day Skipper Pratical. Preferably before joining us in Croatia if you are doing both practicals simultaneously.

RYA Competent Crew - About The Course
This course is for those who would like to learn to sail and become active crew members rather than just passengers.
What Type Of RYA Course Is This?.
Experience living, sailing, cooking and sleeping on board for 5 days and really get to know the boat. Virtually all the course is hands on. This is very much a Practical Sail Training course.
You are the crew - without you the sails won't go up and the boat won't be steered.
By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day duties on board.
Course Content
The RYA Competent crew syllabus is taught in a ratio of (5:1) students to instructor and covers the following:

Ability After The Course
After the course you will be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day routines.
RYA Day Skipper Practical - About The Course
The Day Skipper course is for aspiring Day Skippers and can be used to obtain an International Certificate of Competence and satisfies the minimum experience requirement for bare boat charter.
This course concentrates on pilotage, navigation and boat handling under both sail and power. It will also improve your sail setting and deck work, as well as developing your knowledge and understanding of seamanship and safety issues.
During the course you will be able to take charge of the yacht on short tidal passages, under the guidance of the instructor.
Who Is This Course For?
RYA Day Skipper is a qualification which enables you to safely take charge of a 30-45ft sail cruising yacht and its crew by day in familiar waters. There's no getting away from it – passing involves some work, some practice and some dedication & previous sailing experience. (RYA Competent Crew & RYA Day Skipper Theory)
What Type Of RYA Course is this?
This is very much a hands-on practcial RYA course. With little time to teach navigation or other theoretical subjects. It is therefore recommended that you take the RYA Day Skipper Theory shorebased course (Info: Click Here) prior to your practical course so you can put those skills into practice on the water. You will be sleeping onboard visiting different ports and bays throughout the duration of the course.
Ability After The Course
Pilotage, boat handling, seamanship and navigation, Can skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by day.
